Reclaim your thirst for life!

Good morning!

Well, it’s hump day. For those of you with your minds in the gutter, that means we are halfway through the working week.

How do you feel? I mean, really…deep down. Bored? Fed up? In my mind there are 2 types of boredom. There is ‘double maths lesson’ bored which passes the minute you are released to go to lunch and be with your friends. This isn’t too worrying, everybody has it.

Then you have the deep down ‘my soul has stagnated’ boredom. This is like dry rot and must be got rid of! I remember a few years ago I was stood in line at the shops and I suddenly realised I was far beyond double maths bored. It was a Sunday, the same inane headlines covered the magazines I was glancing at. I was buying exactly the same cereal and other bits of food that I had been buying the week before. I knew I would probably go home and do exactly what I did every weekend in an attempt to escape the reality of working 5 days a week in a job I hated.

I got extremely frustrated. I remember saying to a relative of mine how boring life was and they said that it was just how life was and to learn to accept it. They said everyone has to work, shop, cook and clean. Feeling desperate, I then raised my voice and said ‘Well if that’s what life is then I don’t want it!’

However, from that point on I was on a mission. I realised I’d not got any thirst for living. Everything exciting had previously seemed impossible; options and hobbies were for other people. The best way I can describe the change in me was forcing my mind open to accept other possibilities.

Once you realise that you can do all the exciting things that other people do, this incredible thirst will wash over you. You will feel like a kid in a sweet shop and want everything NOW!

I’m not saying you will never feel bored again, but once you realise you can take charge and make life what you want it to be, your thirst for life will come rushing back. It’s like going from black and white to colour, mute to surround sound.

So maybe plan something new for this weekend or buy the weirdest looking food at the supermarket and try it with friends. Talking of which, what is up with dragon fruit!?!

Till next time

I so enjoy coaching people, talking through their ideas, helping them to figure out a plan. I get excited by all the opportunities that are open to them and love seeing that moment when they get excited too. I hope that by helping to motivate people and coach them to living their ideal life, my vision will come true. My vision is INCREDIBLE.

My vision might come across as cheesy but I promise it will be amazing when it happens.

Imagine everyone is living their life purpose. Every single person has found what it is they were born to do and is living it. Monday’s reign of terror is over and every day is equally looked forward to.

Because everyone is happy, people are relaxed and less angry and stressed. No one feels threatened by the next person because they know they are doing what they are meant to be doing. Everyone lends a hand to encourage and help others.

Now think about you. Every day you wake up and you are excited to be doing what you’re about to do. With every day that passes your sense of joy and achievement grows, yet you keep your thirst for life.

You are living the dream.

Bucket List Update and Challenge Completed.

I read this quote before my holiday and it stuck in my mind. I always say how quickly my holidays go and so was determined to make the most of every minute.

The time still went quickly but I packed so much into my time that I came back extremely satisfied and happy.

I managed to cross 2 things off my bucket list and at the same time complete the challenge I’d set myself to do something scary or out of my comfort zone within the month.

Skinny dipping has never really crossed my mind. I put it on my bucket list because it is so far out of my comfort zone it was bound to make me feel alive. It sure worked! As I started stripping off on the beach my heart was pounding. The minute the last item of clothing hit the sand I was off, running into the sea. It was so liberating!

It was late at night, no one was around but it still felt daring. Once I’d swum out a little way I also threw my message in a bottle into the sea. It was great to cross 2 things off my list at once.

I’m thrilled to hear some great feedback from people about bucket lists. Some people have started writing their own which is brilliant! I can’t wait to hear how they get on!

I would love to hear how you are all getting on.

Till next time

Good morning!

I write this motivational blog for you, whoever you may be, wherever you are. Encouraging others is my thing. It makes me happy. Next week I’ll be writing about my hopes for you in the future.

However, it’s important you achieve a balance. If you push and push yourself, past the point of exhaustion you can end up unwell and demotivated. I have experienced it personally. I found just getting out of bed a daily battle. A few years ago I decided to start working on my one day off a week. I worked for 27 days in a row and made myself ill for a month. It was not worth it!

So, give yourself permission to rest when you need to. Drown out the sound of anyone who tries to tell you that to be successful you should never take a day off. Enjoy yourself. After all, what is all the effort for, if not to enjoy yourself at the end of it?

You may have guessed where I’m going with this whole ‘rest’ business. I’m taking myself off for a week to see if I can’t cross a few things off my bucket list. I’m going to visit some family and boy, am I going to REST! Having said that I’m also taking my laptop with me to keep working on my book, but that’s something I enjoy doing, and I’ll be doing it by the beach.

There will be no blogs for a week. However, here is some holiday reading if you fancy it.

25 Principles of Success – Jack Canfield

The 4 Hour Work Week – Tim Ferriss

The Very Hungry Caterpillar – Eric Carle (this book always makes me feel good about my diet)

Learning – the fun kind

Hands up, class, if school wasn’t really your cup of tea?

I have to say, though I did well at school, that it was more through pride in my work than being interested in what I was learning. I would sit fuming in a maths class, complaining to my class mates ‘When am I ever going to use this? Yet things I would really appreciate being taught weren’t even mentioned. I love this picture below.

But thankfully as an adult I can pick and choose what I learn. I think of lot of people get so put off by the idea of ‘learning’ as they associate it with boring classes at school.

Learning does for your life what self-raising flour does for cakes; it enhances and lifts it. You will stand out from the crowd if you keep learning. You might make a new friend at night classes, you might be promoted because you have that extra qualification and it will definitely make you more interesting at parties!

First of all, get rid of the idea that learning takes place only within the walls of a classroom. Sitting with my legs dangling off the side of a plane, I learned just how cold it is at 14,000 feet! As I tilted my head back, crossed my arms over my chest and pushed myself out of the plane, I learned what it feels like to freefall for a minute (scary but freeing!)

I learned just how fast you have to run off a mountain to catch the wind when you want to go hangliding.

Hang gliding

I learned how heavy chain mail is!

I want to learn so much I’m concerned I’ll never fit it into my lifetime. On my book case I have a whole shelf dedicated to language books and CD’s. I have French, Spanish, Mandarin, Sign Language, German and Japanese. I want to be fairly fluent in them all.

Behind my book case sits a keyboard I can only half play. I want to learn to play that, I also want to learn to play the saxophone.

Learn the guitar so you can serenade that special someone. Learn how to create websites so you can earn squillions of pounds. Learn how to make cool clothes so you won’t have to dress your baby in the god awful knitted baby grows you just know your mother-in-law will try and inflict on your newborn.

Don’t let formal education put you off learning. Learn something, anything. Let it enrich your life and make you a rounded and interesting person (not that you aren’t tremendously fascinating right now). Most of all, have fun with it. You won’t learn if you’re not having fun.

Till next time

P.S For this post, I learned how to put more than one picture in at a time. Right on!

Good morning campers!!!

On yet another beautiful day, I feel the air is buzzing with opportunity so that is what I’m inspired to talk about.

Do you remember when you were a kid and our imaginations weren’t as limited as they can be today? We saw opportunity everywhere. Every kid we didn’t know in the park could be our new friend. Every spare bit of time we had we were planning our next crazy scheme. We could do ANYTHING!

Lego could be anything we wanted it to be. A banana could be a microphone, a toothbrush or a phone. Everything was an opportunity!

Somewhere along the line we get this sense of opportunity forced out of us. We are told to be realistic. We are embarrassed when we present our ideas to our parents or friends and they laugh at us for being so outlandish.

What would you rather; enjoy the giddy sensation of endless opportunity or be perpetually bored by closed off ideas that fit easily into a little box?

Practice seeing the opportunities and possibilities in everything. Even if it feels silly. One of my work colleagues told me a cute story of when her niece was about 3 years old and she used to ask her questions like ‘Shall we go to the moon?’ and her niece would eagerly respond with ‘YEAH!’ Anything was possible.

Try and be more childlike when it comes to opportunity. Nurture that sense of excitement. Just think, on your way to work this morning you could meet the love of your life. Tonight could be the night you have that million dollar idea. Tomorrow you could be quitting your job and going travelling just like you’ve always wanted to. Who knows what’s going to happen?

Every moment is an opportunity. Grab it!

Motivation Research

Hi Guys,

As some of you know, I’m writing a motivational book. I’d be eternally grateful if you could answer this quick survey for some research I’m doing. Thank you for those who did it last time, but I need more responses!

Hope you’ve all had a great weekend and got that bit closer to your goals!

P.S Are you as astounded as I am that this guy’s mouth is so big that his hands easily fit in there with space to spare???
